Man injured in Nanaimo tent city explosion

A resident of Nanaimo’s tent city was left with second and third degree burns after an explosion inside his tent early Friday morning.
Nanaimo Fire and Nanaimo RCMP were called to the tent city, located on city-owned industrial land on Port Drive, around 2:40 a.m. after reports of an explosion, said Fire Chief Karen Fry.
Police were already on scene, treating the injured man when firefighters arrived. There was no fire to extinguish, Fry said.
