Improper paperwork: Vancouver pioneer lanes subdivided … 133 years later

Legal notices tend to be fairly dry. But last week a real zinger popped up in The Vancouver Sun.
It was a notice from the City of Vancouver to the heirs of Israel Wood Powell, Charles Thomas Dupont and Annie Flater about some lots on or near Main Street, between 4th and 7th avenues.
Powell and Dupont were prominent Victoria businessmen who invested heavily in Vancouver real estate when the city was incorporated in 1886, both individually and as investors in the Vancouver Improvement Company
