Eric Hamber students to get new seismically safe school in 2022
Students at Vancouver’s Eric Hamber Secondary are getting a new school.
The Ministry of Education announced Tuesday it will spend $79.3 million to replace the existing westside school in what it called the largest seismic project in Vancouver’s history.
The 56-year-old building near Oak and 33rd Avenue has been deemed high risk in the event of an earthquake. The new school will be built beside the existing school on the northwest corner of the site.
