E.J. Hughes painting donated to Emily Carr University

The Peter and Joanne Brown Foundation has donated an E.J. Hughes painting bought at auction for $1.14 million to Emily Carr University of Art + Design. “Coastal Boats near Sidney, BC” is an oil-on-canvas painting depicting two steamships sailing between Vancouver Island and the mainland. It was purchased by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of B.C. in 1952 and sold at auction in 2011. The painting will hang in the president’s office at Emily Carr University. The Brown Foun
