Editorial: NDP has developed balanced policy on vaccinations

With several outbreaks of preventable, infectious diseases in B.C. in recent years, including the current flare-up of measles, it’s clear that vaccination rates in the province are too low.
Medical experts say that 90 to 95 per cent of people within a population must be vaccinated to prevent outbreaks of communicable disease. This achieves “herd immunity,” where so many people are immune to a virus that it can’t spread.
