Editorial: Federal budget offers little to keep B.C. competitive

Veteran budget watchers were left scratching their heads Tuesday when the federal government tabled a document billed as Budget 2018 that was unlike anything they had seen before. The aspirational goal of gender equality overshadowed the usual fare of budgets — namely, an accounting of revenue and expenses in the context of domestic and global economic conditions. Instead, it offered up a social engineering manifesto evidently intended to serve as a platform for the 2019 election campaign.
