'Do white people dominate the outdoors?' Vancouver-based MEC apologizes for using only white models

Mountain Equipment Co-op, the Vancouver-based outdoor retailing giant, apologized on Monday for using predominantly white models to sell its wares. In an open letter, MEC CEO David Labistour admitted the company rarely included people of colour in its advertisements and catalogues, perpetuating the idea that the outdoors are for white people only.
