Court clears way for major mine-drilling project on First Nations land

B.C.’s highest court has cleared the way for an exploratory drilling program for a mine on First Nations land near Williams Lake.
Taseko Mines Ltd., which holds a mineral lease and mineral claims in territory held by the Tsilhqot’in Nation 125 kilometres west of Williams Lake, proposes to develop a mine that has estimated deposits of 11 million ounces of gold and four billion pounds of copper.
