B.C. Wildfires 2018: State of emergency declared across province as 566 fires burn

The B.C. government has declared a provincial state of emergency due to the ongoing wildfires.
The declaration is in effect for two weeks from the time it is issued and may be extended or rescinded as the situation develops. It gives the authority to various levels of government and policing to do whatever is necessary to fight the fires and protect people.
Solicitor General and Minister of Public Safety Mike Farnworth made the announcement Wednesday morning in a statement.
