B.C. man guilty of using mobile while driving, even though it had a dead battery

A B.C. judge has ruled a man was illegally using his iPhone while driving, even though he wasn’t holding it and it had a dead battery.
On Oct. 12, Patrick Grzelak was charged with holding or using an electronic device while driving, according to a small-claims decision this week in provincial court.
He was coming home from work in his black Mercedes, on 152nd Street in Surrey, with his iPhone in the centre cubbyhole in the dashboard, according to court documents.
