Baths in action: 22 years later, Bathtub Race returns to Vancouver

It has been 22 years since the bathtubs washed up on Kitsilano Beach and on Saturday they’ll make their triumphal return.
Each summer from 1967 to 1996, competitors in the historic Bathtub Race would cross the Strait of Georgia from Nanaimo to Vancouver, a gruelling journey through choppy waters that left racers with backaches and wobbly legs. Saturday, after approval by the Vancouver park board, the historic race (and all the aches) comes back, at least to Kitsilano.
