Barkerville: Gold-rush relic to cultural icon

There is a lot of depth to Barkerville, the Cariboo gold-rush town that sprang up alongside Williams Creek in the 1860s.
Literally.
Floods were a constant threat to the town in its early days, when thousands of miners would dig up gravel and earth in their quest for gold, producing tailings that would wash down the valley.
