Avalanche risk closes part of Trans-Canada Highway in B.C.

A high avalanche risk has forced officials to close the Trans-Canada Highway between Revelstoke and Golden.
The Ministry of Transportation says Highway 1 will be closed in that area with no detour until around 8 p.m. on Thursday.
A winter storm has walloped the southern Interior with more than 40 centimetres of snowfall, with up to 30 more centimetres expected throughout the day. Rogers Pass could see up to 50 centimetres.
The ministry says avalanche control work is taking place in four differen
