ART SEEN: Maureen Gruben's materiality ranges from polar bear bones to bubble wrap

What caught my attention was the way the light made the little packets glow. A couple of dozen of them were hanging on a line strung at an angle across the southeast-facing window in the Libby Leshgold Gallery. It was an overcast day so the back lighting made the packages translucent and outlined the forms of the objects inside.
Some were easy to recognize. On the far left, a charger for a phone. Others included coins, crayons, buttons and a yellow plastic condom with a red heart.
