I started thinking about space and what it means after seeing Inside Out at SiteFactory.
Afterwards, as I was cycling home on a sunny Saturday evening, the phrase from the original Star Trek TV series popped into my head. “Space,” William Shatner as Capt. James T. Kirk says at the start of each episode, “the final frontier.”
In the confident world of the 1960s, the science fiction space of Star Trek was very much a modernist creation. You explored it by going in one direc
