If you had been enjoying the fabulous weather in early October just imagine if you were a grape. The bunches are slowly reaching peak ripeness packing on dream amounts of sugar (soon to be alcohol) basking in mid-day temperatures in the high teens and low 20 degrees Celsius.
Meanwhile, night temperatures are in the low single digits allowing for an all-important acid adjustment to ensure a lifetime of freshness in the bottle and the glass. It’s a win-win scenario for winemakers.
