Opened fire hydrant causes $23,500 damage

Vandals opened a fire hydrant in Temiskaming Shores Friday morning, causing water breaks throughout the area, according to Ontario Provincial Police.
Police said that shortly after 4 a.m. the person or persons removed the lid and opened the hydrant. Water ran for some time in the area around Rebecca and Elm streets in New Liskeard.
Damage is estimated at $23,500.
