North Bay taxes hotel visitors 4%

An accommodation tax on overnight hotel and motel stays is now in effect in North Bay.
The four per cent tax, which local operations started charging Friday, will be used to help fund tourism initiatives and infrastructure. The tax is expected to generate as much as $890,000 annually and will be split 60/40 between Tourism North Bay and the city. Numerous communities across Ontario are already charging a similar tax.
