Fresh produce on the menu next Christmas

North Bay Santa Fund hampers will be stuffed with locally grown produce next holiday season.
Potatoes, carrots, kale and other products grown by local farmers will accompany hamper staples such as turkey, milk coupons, juice boxes, pasta, spices and cereal, says Lana Mitchell, a volunteer and member of the Santa Fund organizing committee.
“There’s a huge difference in nutritional value,” says Mitchell, who credits the idea to one of this past year’s hamper recipients.
