Big day for North Bay birders Saturday

No matter how many times Dick Tafel sees a Bohemian waxwing, he always gets a certain thrill.
“You think they’ve been coiffed by a Parisian hairdresser,” Tafel says.
They come in different colourations, but they are “especially fun, an exotic find.”
Tafel doesn’t know yet if there will be any around Saturday when birders from across the region take part in the annual Christmas Bird Count, but he’s sure there will be plenty of species to catch the eye.
