Vancouver Island First Nation artist transforms bus into inspiring message

A Songhees First Nation Elder has transformed a BC Transit bus into a moving expression of culture, identity, resilience and community connection.
The artwork, which is centred around a traditional Lekwengen origin story, has been created by internationally renowned carver, artist, educator and knowledge sharer Clarence “Butch” Dick (Yux’wey’lupton).“Lekwengen Peoples are wolf people, and most Coast Salish people are wolf people,” said Dick in a news release.
