Six elementary schools on Nanaimo’s list for speed-management measures

Six elementary schools in Nanaimo are being eyed for the installation of more than $1 million in speed-management measures.
The city’s governance and priorities committee voted unanimously at its meeting on Sept. 28, to recommend that council invest most of the remaining $1,110,000 in the 2026 active transportation unallocated budget to support the completion of partially funded projects, and the implementation of speed-reduced measures near select elementary schools.
