Nanaimo man charged with arson after combustible materials piled against restaurant

A 39-year-old man was arrested, after officers found him near combustible materials piled against the exterior of a restaurant in the 100 block of Wallace Street.
On Aug. 4 at approximately 4:40 a.m., an off-duty RCMP officer walking to work observed an individual carrying a knife in an alley way near the restaurant.
The officer was aware of court-imposed conditions prohibiting the man from possessing weapons of any kind.
