Nanaimo Fire Rescue saves young gull

Nanaimo Fire Rescue was involved in an unusual rescue on Commercial Street on Monday, Sept. 1.
A young gull found itself caught up in a narrow space between Red’s Bakery and Sukkho Thai Restaurant and couldn’t free itself, prompting a bystander to call the professional rescuers for assistance.
Assistant Fire Chief John MacKenzie, with Nanaimo Fire Rescue, said the rescue team discovered that the gull, known as the Commercial Street gull, was deep in the crevice between the two buildi
