Headline history: Deer being shot with arrows in Nanaimo has long history

People shooting urban deer with arrows has been going on for many years in Nanaimo.
The first documented media reports of deer being illegally shot with arrows or crossbow bolts in the city was in December, 2006, when conservation officers warned the public about a bowhunter targeting deer near the Departure Bay area.In 2010, numerous deer were also shot with crossbows in residential areas in Departure Bay and Hammond Bay, prompting public warnings from the B.C. Conservation Officer Service.
