Headline history: B.C. tourism’s economic impact has quadrupled over 35 years
Thirty-five years ago a study showed that tourism brought in $2.4 billion to B.C., about a quarter of what the industry brings in today.
On Dec. 10, 1990, the Bulletin published an article on the results of the Visitor ‘89 study, which showed that tourists spent an estimated $2.4 billion a year in the province, which would equate to approximately $5.2 billion in 2025, accounting for inflation.
