Firefighters tackling wildfire near Cowichan Lake

The BC Wildfire Service says a fire discovered Thursday, Sept. 17 on the west side of Bald Mountain at Cowichan Lake is in steep, challenging terrain.
The wildfire, which was estimated at 0.57 hectares in size as of Friday morning, was classified as out of control. This refers to a fire that is spreading or is anticipated to spread beyond the current perimeter or control line.
The fire is believed to be human-caused.
