DFO convicts four people for illegal shellfish harvesting in Deep Bay

Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO) recently convicted four individuals for illegal shellfish harvesting in Deep Bay in the summer of 2023.
DFO fishery officers conducted their inspection near Deep Bay on Aug. 26, 2023, but throughout the investigation several of the accused failed to appear in court. Warrants were issued for their arrests, and the DFO states that information from the public through their Observe, Record, Report program assisted in their investigation efforts.
