Copper wire crooks cause $40K in damage at Parksville electrical substation
During the week of May 18 to May 24, the Oceanside RCMP received 271 complaints.
Some of the incidents included:
A large amount of copper grounding wire was reported stolen from an electrical substation, as well as damage to a perimeter fence near Allsbrook Road in Parksville on May 18. Estimated repair costs are $40,000. The next day, a vehicle was reported vandalized, with the gas tank drilled and fuel drained, at the Memorial Avenue pullout in Qualicum Beach
