COLUMN: Watch out for deer on the roadways
I struck a deer many years ago while driving along Hammond Bay Road.
The Columbian black-tailed deer, the type that primarily populates Nanaimo, jumped out of the bushes by the side of road and landed right in front of my car.
I instinctively swerved away from it, but still caught the deer right on its rump.
