COLUMN: Opioid crisis seems unending

It seems that the Nanaimo Fire Rescue scanner in the newsroom is constantly reporting overdoses around the city that emergency personnel have to respond to.
The vast majority of the calls for service on the scanner each day involve overdoses, eclipsing calls regarding fires, vehicle accidents and other emergencies Nanaimo Fire Rescue has to deal with on a regular basis, and they are sometimes just minutes apart.
