B.C. student cycles 270 km, raises $7.7K for wildfire evacuees

The recent wildfires in the Okanagan inspired a Lake Country resident currently living two provinces over to help evacuees from a distance.Since July 31, the Bradley Creek, Quilpituk Creek, and Bald Range fires combined have burned more than 25,000 hectares, with the majority burned at Bald Range.
Seeing the devastation from the fires reminded Lake Country resident and UBC Okanagan (UBCO) student Ains Reid of being on evacuation alert due to the McDougall Creek wildfire complex in 2023.
