B.C. forestry groups say industry at ‘breaking point’
B.C. forestry sector organizations are calling for the immediate establishment of a provincial crisis action group as timber companies reel from increasing harvesting costs and escalating U.S. trade action.
“Its mandate should be clear: get economically viable wood moving, reduce costs, remove regulatory barriers, stabilize fibre supply, protect operating businesses, and retain—not retrain—British Columbia’s skilled forestry workforce,” the letter says.
