Woman throws herself from car on Highway 440 after brakes fail

LAVAL — A woman in her 60s who was driving on Highway 440 in Laval had to jump from her vehicle after her brakes failed.
The driver was on Highway 440 eastbound around 10 a.m. Saturday when she discovered her brakes no longer worked, said Hélène Nepton of the Sûreté du Québec.
The driver tried to slow down without success. She got out of the vehicle, which ended up in the ditch next to the highway.
