Update: Montreal’s jobless rate holds steady; Quebec-wide, a slight dip

Wage growth hit its highest level in nearly six years last month as the Canadian economy posted a slight net loss of 1,100 jobs and an unemployment rate that held steady at 5.8 per cent.
Montreal’s jobless rate remained at 5.9 per cent while the provincial unemployment rate was down slightly, from 5.6 per cent to 5.4 per cent, Statistics Canada said on Friday.
