Update: Montreal’s bike path network gets more money, more kilometres

The city of Montreal will spend $15 million on 48 cycling projects throughout the city this year and part of next, increasing the city’s bike path network by 33 kilometres. One-third of that amount will be paths protected by a physical barrier for the safety of cyclists, because fears of a lack of security are the main impediment keeping people taking up cycling in the city, said Marianne Giguère, the city’s associate executive committee member responsible for active transit.
