The CIA had some ingenious plans to poison Fidel Castro. Botulinum toxin in his cigars, a ballpoint pen rigged to inject nicotine sulphate and a scuba-diving suit tainted with tuberculosis bacteria were some of the cunning ways that were explored to do away with the Cuban leader.
Supposedly, there were also attempts to curb his political power by reducing his appeal to the masses. One of these involved lacing a studio with LSD to cause him to be confused and disoriented during a radio address.
