The opioid crisis: Quebec expands free naloxone antidote program

In response to the fentanyl crisis that’s taken a toll on Vancouver and other parts of Canada, Quebec confirmed it will be expanding its free antidote program, effective Friday.
Health Minister Gaétan Barrette and Public Health Minister Lucie Charlebois said that naloxone, a life-saving drug that counters opioid overdoses, will be made widely available at 1,900 community pharmacies. Naloxone will be distributed freely to anyone age 14 and older. No prescription will be required
