Surgeons get hefty bonuses for showing up, starting on time: report
The Couillard government has paid out $41 million in bonuses to doctors who are ready to operate at 8 a.m. or work past 3 p.m. in hospital operating rooms, the Journal de Montréal reported Friday.
Medical specialists who perform surgeries are entitled to an “attendance bonus” in operating rooms that are being used on weekdays between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. They are also paid $21 for every 15 minutes worked in an operating room past 3 p.m.
