STM maintenance workers give union a strike mandate

Maintenance workers at the Société de transport de Montréal (STM) voted by 98 per cent in favour of a strike mandate on Sunday, saying management’s latest demands would damage their work-life balance.
The Syndicat du Transport de Montréal, representing more than 2,400 employees, said it still hopes to reach a negotiated settlement, but now has the authorization to hold a six-day strike.
