STM maintenance workers cancel Grand Prix weekend strike

The union of 2,400 maintenance workers for the Société de transport de Montréal (STM) has cancelled the overtime-hours strike that had been expected to begin Saturday.
The STM said that last-minute talks with the union were successful in stopping the strike, which was to have continued until June 22.
A request for mediation that had been filed with the minister of labour was also withdrawn, the STM said.
