Southbound Champlain Bridge re-opens 3 lanes after car fire

Southbound traffic on the Champlain Bridge has resumed moving after being stopped for about 20 minutes by a car fire that broke out just before the superstructure on the span at about 7:30 a.m.
There were no injuries.
Because of the backlog, however, the reserved bus lane has been closed in an effort to clear off the span.
Traffic backed up on the Champlain Bridge at 8:15 a.m. Sept. 20.
