South Shore pharmacists can administer antibiotic for Lyme disease

Pharmacists in the Montérégie region south of Montreal are now authorized to administer antibiotics to prevent Lyme disease.
In order to have access to the drug, patients must have been bitten by a tick in one of three regions where the insects are known to be frequently infected by the bacteria causing Lyme disease: the Montérégie, Eastern Townships and Outaouais. 
Also, the tick must have remained attached to the skin for at least 24 hours.
