Shelter: Sumptuous style on display in former Mount Royal Hotel

Emile Saleh’s life sounds like one of those glamorous Merchant Ivory movies whose plot lines centre around past events in exotic locations. Saleh, 84, was born in Iraq but when his father got a job in India, the family moved to Mumbai — Saleh still refers to it as Bombay.
As a youngster, he attended a private boarding school in Pune — an area east of Mumbai surrounded by high-altitude towns known as hill stations favoured by colonial rulers during the British Raj. Saleh complet
