Quebec unemployment falls to 41-year low, StatsCan announces

Quebec’s unemployment rate dropped by 1.2 per cent in July to 5.8 per cent, the lowest rate since 1976, when comparative rates were first recorded, Statistics Canada announced Friday.
Nationally, and because of a slight drop in the number of those searching for work, Canada’s unemployment rate fell by 0.2 per cent in July to 6.3 per cent, the lowest rate since October of 2008, the eve of a job market slowdown that lasted from 2008 to 2009.
