Quebec defends $10-million loan to Groupe Capitales Médias

QUEBEC — The Couillard government on Thursday defended its decision to lend $10 million to the regional newspaper company Groupe Capitales Médias (GCM) so that its papers can embark on a new digital strategy.
The company is owned by former federal Liberal minister Martin Cauchon. The loan was issued by Investissement Québec and is part of GCM’s larger $26-million modernization plan.
