Quebec adopts Bill 107, beefing up UPAC's powers
QUEBEC — The National Assembly has adopted Bill 107, making Quebec’s anti-corruption unit a real police force with new powers and more independence.
Despite the staunch opposition of the three opposition parties, the Liberal government used its majority in the legislature to push the bill into law Wednesday.
The vote was 61 for (all the Liberals present in the house) and 49 against (all the opposition MNAs in the house).
