Police chase leaves 1 dead, van submerged in river

Quebec’s office of independent investigations (BEI) has launched an investigation into the death of a 22-year-old man during a police pursuit Thursday in Métabetchouan-Lac-à-la-Croix, in the Saguenay–Lac-St-Jean region.
According to the investigation’s preliminary findings, a pursuit was launched by a single Sûreté du Québec squad car after it detected a vehicle exceeding the speed limit on Highway 170.
