NHL career likely over for former Canadiens captain Brian Gionta

It looks like Brian Gionta’s NHL career is likely over after 16 seasons.
The former Canadiens captain played 20 games with the Boston Bruins this season, scoring two goals and adding five assists, after being captain of Team USA at the PyeongChang Olympics. The 39-year-old Gionta only dressed for one of the Bruins’ 12 playoff games and was pointless.
On Thursday, Bruins GM Don Sweeney said he would not be offering Gionta a new contract.Former Canadiens GM Bob Gainey signed Giont
