Montreal unemployment rate rose slightly in January: Statistics Canada

Montreal’s unemployment rate rose slightly in January, from 5.5 to 6.1 per cent, according to Statistics Canada.
Despite the increase, Montreal’s unemployment rate remains near record lows. Lower monthly rates have only been recorded — in any month — three times since January 2001, the earliest date for which data using the same geographic boundaries is available.
This is also the lowest January unemployment rate recorded since 2001.
